Schools warned as deputies pursue suspects
BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies warned two East Baton Rouge Parish schools to heighten security while they searched for a suspect in connection with a series of burglaries today.
Sheriff's office spokesperson Casey Rayborn Hicks said Parkview Oaks Elementary and Middle School were placed on "Hold and Secure," which she said was similar to a lockdown, for a time as a precautionary measure while deputies searched the area.
Deputies later told the school they could lift the hold after the suspect left the area.
Hicks said deputies had been investigating a series of burglaries and doing surveillance when they spotted three suspected burglars in the Parkforest subdivision off Greenwell Springs Road. She said all three have since been arrested.
