Schools locked down during suspect search
SPRINGFIELD - Deputies in Livingston Parish locked down schools in Springfield this morning after a robbery suspect was seen near the school grounds.
Superintendent John Watson said Springfield's elementary, middle and high schools were all put on "partial lockdown" because of the search this morning. The partial lockdown limits who can come onto the campus, and means no one can go outside.
Sheriff's office spokesperson Lori Steele said deputies were chasing a suspect involved in a robbery and possible carjacking, and a sighting was reported close to the school grounds.
Authorities said all students were safe, they were just using extra caution during this pursuit.
