BATON ROUGE - Westdale Middle School of Baton Rouge is celebrating after improving in performance, going from a "C" to a "B" school.

It's one of four schools in the district to improve. Three other schools dropped in letter grades, going from "B" to "C" schools.

Westdale Middle has about 1,200 students from sixth through eighth grades, and administrators say hard work from the students paid off.

"It gives confidence to the students, the teachers, and to the administrative staff, we know next year we'll be an 'A' school," said Westdale's principal, Sherry Brock.

Students attending the four schools that went from a "C" to a "B" will no longer be eligible for the private school voucher program.
