BATON ROUGE- More school buses will be on the streets when the school day ends Wednesday.
About 20 buses will be added to regular routes since the accident on I-10 has gridlocked city streets.
"The East Baton Rouge Parish School System has experienced service delays with many of its school bus routes in the southeast part of the parish," said Chris Trahan, the system's spokesperson.
Bus drivers have been advised to avoid the areas around the 10/12 Split, if possible.
Automated phone calls have also been made to parents, alerting them of the potential delays.
Trahan also said students who were late to school because of the traffic situation will be excused.
