A student at Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge was cited for sending a text message warning other students about a possible shooting on campus Tuesday.
The message was sent Monday and at least one parent told News 2 she kept her child home Tuesday because of the threat.
Deputies tracked down the text message and traced it to the student.
"She admitted that she made it up," said Casey Rayborn Hicks with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's office.
The student was issued a summons for improper telephone communication and criminal mischief.
