CLINTON - The East Feliciana Parish School Board's decision to return to a five-day school week will push the opening of school back by six days.

Superintendent Henderson Lewis Jr. says students will begin classes Monday, Aug. 12.

The board voted 10-2 on May 7 to return to a five-day per week class schedule after seven years of operating on a Tuesday-through-Friday weekly schedule.

The opening of school for students had been set for Aug. 6 on the calendar approved earlier this year for the four-day school week. The board updated its calendars at its July 2 meeting.

The last day of the school year will be May 22, 2014, the same as it was on the four-day calendar.
