School district organizers talk breakaway town
BATON ROUGE - Supporters of a breakaway school district in southeast Baton Rouge are taking their new approach, incorporating the area into a new town, to the Chamber of Commerce of East Baton Rouge Parish today.
Norman Browning, the chairman of the group Local Schools for Local Children, will speak at a noon luncheon with the chamber about their intentions.
A second effort to create a school district in the area, which is bordered by I-12 and I-10 on the north and south respectively, failed in the latest legislative session.
News 2's Michael Shingleton will have more on what the group has to say tonight.
