CENTRAL - Students are back in school in the area, but not without some bus problems in Zachary and Central.
Both districts contract their bus services through First Students. The school bus service is particularly having issues in Central, where some students aren't getting home from school until after 5 p.m.
"It's heartbreaking. I feel like there's nothing I can do about it at this point," said parent Kelly Liebert, whose son is one of the late arrivals. "I see him get off the bus looking miserable and it breaks my heart."
The Central School District says growth and road construction is contributing to the problem. Superintendent Mike Faulk says he's aware of the problems and is working with First Student throughout the weekend to resolve the issue.
The Zachary School District had a few issues with First Student on the first day of school, but the superintendent says they've ironed them out.
