School board president's truck taken in hit and run case

BATON ROUGE - Troopers have taken the truck of Livingston Parish School Board President Malcolm Sibley after they say he was involved in a deadly hit and run crash in St. Helena Parish early Sunday morning.

21-year old, William Iasigi died at a hospital in St. Helena Parish as a result of the accident.

State Police say Iasigi got out of a truck in the travel lane on LA 43 near Greensburg, when Sibley allegedly hit him and left the scene.

Investigators said a series of tips led to Sibley's arrest.

Sibley was arrested in Livingston Parish and brought to St. Helena Parish as a fugitive according St. Helena Sheriff Department.

Livingston Parish Superintendent John Watson tells News 2, "Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families involved." As far as what the future holds for the School Board President, Watson says, "that's up to Mr. Sibley and the authorities."

Sibley bonded out of jail on a $500 cash bond.
