School board president arrested in deadly hit and run
GREENSBURG, Miss. - Livingston Parish School Board President Malcolm Sibley was arrested Sunday morning after being tracked down by police for Saturday morning's fatal hit and run in St. Helena Parish.
Sibley was identified as the driver of a truck that hit and killed 21-year old William Iasigi.
State Police say Iasigi got out of his truck in the travel lane on LA 43 near Greensburg, when Sibley allegedly hit him and left the scene. Iasigi was taken to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
Investigators said a series of tips led to Sibley's arrest.
Livingston Parish Superintendent John Watson tells News 2, "Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families involved." As far as what the future holds for the School Board President, Watson says, "that's up to Mrs Sibley and the authorities."
Officials say Sibley posted bail and was released.
