Scamming suspect arrested in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE- A man accused of scamming victims out of thousands of dollars in the Baton Rouge area, is now behind bars.
Deputies arrested Dustin Gant on Friday, following a short foot chase.
They say Gant, along with Faye Smith, scammed a 58 year-old victim that was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's. The two suspects went to the victim's home, saying they would do miscellaneous jobs and apparently stole numerous checks totaling more than $50,000.
Deputies say they believe there are other victims.
Gant suffered minor injuries during the chase and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Faye Smith remains on the loose.
