SBA provides loans for La flooding victims
Small businesses in four north Louisiana parishes are eligible for economic injury disaster loans from the SBA as a result of flooding that happened in Mississippi earlier this year.
SBA officials say the parishes - Concordia, East Carroll, Madison and Tensas - are eligible because they're contiguous with one or more counties in Mississippi where floods hit May 1 through June 30.
Frank Skaggs, the SBA's director of its field operations center in Atlanta, says the agency knows that disasters do not stop at county or state lines which is why counties next to primary counties are included.
The program is available to eligible farm-related and nonfarm-related entities that suffered financial losses as a result of the disaster.
Information and applications can be obtained by calling the SBA at 800-659-2955 or by visiting the agency's website at, www.sba.gov.
The deadline to apply is May 2, 2011.
