NEW YORK- People here recovering from Superstorm Sandy will receive free gas, on the Federal Government's dime.

Gasoline will be distributed with a 10-gallon per-person limit.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Saturday morning that the U.S. Department of Defense will set up emergency mobile fuel stations around the New York City metro area.

So far, 8 million gallons of gas has been delivered to the state. Another 28 million gallons is on the way.

Cuomo said the temporary fuel trucks are being sent to key locations in New York City and suburban Long Island for emergency vehicles and the public.

New Yorkers have been waiting for hours in long lines for days to get gas since Sandy pummeled the region.
