BATON ROUGE – With harsh winter weather blowing into Baton Rouge over the weekend, the Baton Rouge Salvation Army announced that the shelter on Airline Hwy will have extended hours Friday.

Captain Brett Meredith said the shelter located at 7361 Airline Hwy. opened at 4 p.m. and residents will be able to stay until 10 a.m. Saturday.

Meredith said that no one will be turned away into freezing conditions.

“We want to be there to assist those who may be the most venerable in our community as we face these freezing temperatures,” Meredith said.
