The New Orleans Saints won the war against the Philadelphia Eagles, but they lost one of their foot soldiers in the process.
Saints running back Mike Bell limped off the field on Sunday in the fourth quarter with a knee injury, saying he could have returned to the game if needed.
However this afternoon Saints head coach Sean Payton said the injury is a little more severe than initially thought by Bell.
"Mike Bell has a sprained MCL. Again, the news on his knee was positive. I don't want to put a time frame on it. I really won't know it until Wednesday, but it's a lot less severe than maybe we anticipated," Payton said. "I don't know what that does for his status this week. It's only Monday right now. The doctors seem to feel pretty good about the nature of that injury."
Saints quarterback Drew Brees tossed three touchdown passes to guide the Black and Gold to a 48-22 victory over Philadelphia. They return to action this weekend, Sept. 27 on the road at Buffalo.
