Saints hold off Falcons for 17-13 win in Atlanta
The Saints defense held off the Falcons offense in the fourth quarter while the Black and Gold offense did enough early to take their second win of the season over Atlanta, this one 17-13 in the Georgia Dome.
Drew Brees threw two touchdown, finding both of his tight ends for early scores. The defense made it hold up late with two fourth quarter stops including a missed 52 yard field goal by Matt Bryant following a time out by Saints head coach Sean Payton.
The Saints improved to 9-2 with the season sweep of their NFC South rivals.
Atlanta fell to 2-9 with their fifth straight loss, their eigth in nine games. The Falcons also ensured its first losing season since 2008 and was officially eliminated from the division race with five weeks remaining.
New Orleans is on the road at Seattle on Dec. 2.
