Saints head coach Sean Payton back in his element
METAIRIE, La. - To say Saints head coach Sean Payton feels back at home would be an understatement. However, as the visor-donning head coach gets used to his surroundings at the Saints Practice Facility this Spring, he also has some howeork to do: learning about half of his players' names and numbers.
"There was a point I was trying to make in a meeting," said Payton, who served a season-long suspension during the Saints' 2012 schedule. "I asked the guys raise your hands if you weren't here in 2011, and there's 45-50 hands, of the 90, up."
Not only does the [new] old whistle have to learn this year's draft picks and free agents...he also has to learn the new additions to the team from last year.
Coach Payton did say he was impressed with the turnout for the voluntary OTA workouts this month.
"We've been at 100-percent," said Payton. "Which in my 8 years here has never happened, and that's good."
For more on the Saints tune in to WBRZ Friday at 6 as Sports 2's Brian Holland goes in-depth with new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
