Saints fans mourn penalties, season
NEW ORLEANS - The talk at "Walk-On's," a sports bar and restaurant near the Superdome, is always about sports, but on Wednesday the focus was greatly reduced.
The penalties handed down by the NFL against the New Orleans Saints were the topic at every table. And the assessment was pretty much the same - too stiff, too sweeping and what about all those other teams?
With 42 of the restaurant's 72 televisions tuned to coverage of the league's action, several tables at one point broke into the fans' famous "Who Dat" chant, to show support.
William Little, a fan since he moved to New Orleans 20 years ago, also wondered how often the Saints had been penalized for defensive hits, and why so many of them were shown on NFL highlights.
