"Low Pants, No Chance" is the name of a new public awareness campaign by a Metro councilwoman.
C. Denise Marcelle is introducing a resolution tonight asking the entire council to back a plan designed to convince young people to stop wearing baggy pants resulting in their underwear being shown. Marcelle said businesses in her district have agreed to put signs up in support of the campaign.
Louisiana ACLU leaders said it's the start of a dangerous path.
Execuctive Director Marjorie Esman said the government should not decide what people wear. She said if you make regulations against sagging, the government could regulate things like the color of your shirt or the type of shoes you wear. Esman said obscenity laws should be enforced if someone is exposing parts of their bodies considered illegal.
