SACS places Louisiana College on probation
PINEVILLE - Louisiana College has been placed on probation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to correct what interim President Argile Smith describes as "administrative" issues.
Smith says the college learned of its status Thursday following a vote by the accrediting agency's Board of Trustees.
SACSCOC cited issues related to trustee board governance, institutional integrity, personnel policies and audit findings that pertain to some financial control matters and student financial aid. Smith says despite the probationary status the school remains fully accredited and students need not worry that their degrees from the school will be questioned.
Smith says the school will compile a report on how it addresses the issues cited in advance of the accrediting agency's visit next April.
