Ruston officer wounded in shooting
Ruston police say an officer was shot several times when he answered a call about a suspicious vehicle on the lot of a car repair shop.
Elaine King, a spokeswoman for LSU Hospital in Shrevpeort, says 38-year-old Cpl. Marchale Canty is in serious condition.
A police news release says Canty was shot about 1:20 a.m. Monday after making contact with a man who then fled in a blue SUV, possibly a Dodge Durango.
