Runners ready for Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE- Downtown will play host to thousands of athletes this weekend.
The Louisiana Marathon is Sunday morning but events and smaller races begin Saturday. Runners started to arrive as early as Friday and took to downtown streets to get a feel for the city.
"I think the venue is really great," runner David Corbett said. Corbett, from Boston, said he appreciates the warmer climate of Baton Rouge to the cold of Boston at this time of the year.
Although, it will be chilly this weekend. Lows are forecast in the 30s. It could be as cold as 33 overnight Friday into Saturday and 38 overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.
"The crowds are pretty cool and you get to go right through LSU," he added about the route that will be pleasing to the eyes yet tiresome on muscles.
Expect many street closures in downtown, the college area, Mid City and the Goodwood area.
