Rubio rallies in downtown Baton Rouge Friday
BATON ROUGE - Sen. Marco Rubio (R), one of the top GOP contenders for president, will rally in downtown Baton Rouge Friday ahead of Saturday's presidential primary.
When the rally was announced Monday, a location was not included, but today, Rubio's team confirmed the event will be held in North Blvd. Town Square. Tickets are free and available on Eventbrite.
Rubio, a first-term U.S. Senator from Florida, is polling second and third in most polls, behind Donald Trump (R), who had more than 10,000 supporters attend a rally at the Baton Rouge River Center earlier this month.
One of other republicans in the race, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, has already made a campaign stop in Baton Rouge as well, as has Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.
While nearly a dozen states headed to the polls Tuesday for "Super Tuesday", voters in Louisiana can pick their candidate Saturday. It's a closed election, meaning republicans can only vote for republicans and democrats can only vote for democrats.
