Rough Riders top Black Knights 35-23 in 2014 Red Stick Bowl
BATON ROUGE - Some of the top high school seniors gathered for the 2014 Red Stick Bowl, and the two teams put on a show Sunday afternoon, as the Rough Riders beat the Black Knights 35-23 in the annual high school all-star football game.
The Rough Riders, led by St. Michael head coach Paul Varnado, jumped out to a 21-8 lead, but the Black Knights cut that to 21-15 on a 39 yard touchdown run by Plaquemine's D'Morea Wicks.
The Rough Riders regained their advantage, though, as Jonas Guichet (Catholic Pt. Coupee) connected with Stephen Guidry (Livonia) on a beautiful 40 yard touchdown pass.
