Roseland man accused of killing his neighbor at Amite store
AMITE - A Roseland man is facing murder charges tonight for allegedly killing his neighbor.
Amite Police Chief Jerry Trabona tells News 2, investigators have arrested 29-year-old Jermaine Williams, on charges of 2nd Degree Murder and 2nd Degree Attempted Murder after a shooting in the city of Amite Wednesday afternoon. Trabona says Williams and his neighbor 27-year-old Joshua Lee had been in a feud for the last two years, a feud that ended with Lee's murder.
Amite Police were called to the parking lot of Dollar General on Northwest Central Avenue, in Amite, around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon. Investigators tell News 2 Williams shot Lee with a 9mm handgun. Lee was hit five times, four in the chest and once in the arm.
This is Amite's first murder of 2015, and first murder in the last year and a half, according to Chief Trabona.
Investigators are questioning several people who witnessed the shooting. Williams is facing the attempted murder charges because investigators say Lee's girlfriend was with him when he was murdered.
