RENO, Nev. - As Mitt Romney describes it, President Barack Obama has mishandled Iran's nuclear threat, alienated Israel and supported arbitrary cuts to defense spending.
But his criticism of Obama on foreign policy didn't stop there, in his speech today to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Romney accused Obama of leaking classified information about the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, and doing so to score political points.
In response, the White House says Obama has zero tolerance for leaks. Spokesman Jay Carney says Obama has made it clear that leaks are "damaging to our national security interests."
Obama himself has rejected the notion that his White House was behind the leaks. When questioned about the allegations in June, he called them "offensive."
But Romney, in accusing Obama of being behind the leaks, said the conduct "betrays our national interest" and "compromises our men and women in the field."
