Roads closed, homes evacuated in Tangipahoa Parish due to severe weather

TANGIPAHOA- Tangipahoa Parish's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness closed several roads due to high water and they may also have high water signs posted.

The Governor has declared a state of emergency for the entire state Thursday night, as flash floods, thunderstorms, and heavy rain pass through the state. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriffs Office said that emergency crews have been making water rescues throughout the night and the calls were still rolling in at 3 a.m. Friday morning. 

According to the Tangipahoa Office of Emergency Preparedness, dozens of homes were evacuated overnight.
