Road closures persist in Ascension Parish

GONZALES - With more storms expected today, Ascension Parish is recovering from Wednesday's heavy bouts of rainfall which led to many road closures.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office released an update that advised of the following road closures as of 1 p.m. Thursday.

Astroland Subdivision
Underpass at St. Patrick and Front St.
Hwy 308 Underpass
Hackberry at Poplar St.
Southwood Subdivision
Hodgeson at Clouatre
Highway 44 (River Road) at Burnside Terminal in curve
Raymond Tullier Road
Sharper Road
Pelican Point Subdivision
Cannon at Poto Road
Pelican Crossing Subdivision
Babin Road at the curve
East New River Road at US 61
Bayou Narcisse from Cleo to Hwy 431
Southwood Village from Highway 73 to Ridgewood
LA 44 at Railroad Ave.
LA 44 at Roosevelt Ave.
Edenborne Ave.
Churchpoint at VFW
Churchpoint at Lakes of St. Amant Subdivision
Ron St. off Brittany Tower Road
Bon Terre Subdivision
Main St. to curve of Country Club (both ends)

Following roads are passable but with water as of 11 a.m.

Ashland Road from Highway 75 to Railroad tracks
River Ridge Subdivision
Bayou Narcisse between Roddy Road and Highway 44
Cornerview and I-10
Cornerview at Oleana
Worthey at Boudreaux
New River Canal east of Highway 73
New River at Coontrap Road
Black Bayou at Oneal
Ashland at the curve near Lamar Dixon
Melancon Road between Highway 936 and Pertuis Road
East Ascension Road at US 61

Sand and Bags are also available at these locations:

Sorrento Town Hall - limited quantity of sand, bring your own shovel
Lamar-Dixon Expo Center Barn 7- pre-bagged sand bags
Frank Sotile Pavilion in Donaldsonville
Gonzales City Maintenance Barn - pre-bagged sand bags for Gonzales residents

Sand and Bags have been delivered at the following locations:
