BATON ROUGE- There are more inspections of the two Baton Rouge riverboat casinos due to the high river water levels.
The Belle of Baton Rouge and Hollywood Casino are both located in the downtown region. Inspectors say they are checking to make sure the boats are secured to the docks properly.
The state could order the casinos closed in water levels continue to rise. Casino officials say the 47-foot mark could trigger closure, and factors like the possible opening of the Morganza Spillway could impact that decision.
Govenor Bobby Jindal said today state gaming officials were preparing an emergency order to close the casinos if staying open was causing a threat to the public.
Construction of the new Pinnacle Casino was also halted because of heightened water levels.
