Ricks: Could be a few days before debris removal begins
LIVINGSTON - Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks said today it could take a few more days to complete plans for debris removal after Hurricane Isaac.
Ricks told News 2 it's taking some time because the parish is trying to avoid many of the problems they faced after Hurricane Gustav in 2008, when FEMA would not pay for work some work done by contractors in the parish.
Ricks says the key is making sure all FEMA reimbursement issues are addressed in the contract. He recommends people get ready for the removal by separating debris and placing them out by the roadway to make things faster when crews begin rolling.
News 2's Mike Steele will have more on cleanup preparations in the parish tonight at 6.
