Rewards paid for tips in wildlife cases
BATON ROUGE - Louisiana's wildlife department says a program that pays rewards for tips leading to violators of fish and game regulations authorized $5,200 in rewards at quarterly meeting this month.
The program is called Louisiana Operation Game Thief. It was begun in 1984 and provides cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of violators of fish and wildlife regulations.
The state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says funds for the program are raised through private donations, court-directed contributions and through contributions through organizations such as the National Wild Turkey Federation and Quality Deer Management Association.
