Reward offered for man after wife beaten, choked
BATON ROUGE - Authorities are offering a reward for information that helps them catch a Baton Rouge man accused of choking his wife, then threatening to kill her.
Major Lawrence McLeary with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office said 28-year-old Meco D. Johnson is wanted in suspicion of attacking his wife.
McLeary said on March 11, deputies were called to a home on Firethorn Street and told Johnson had beaten and choked his wife to the point that she passed out. McLeary said Johnson took off before deputies arrived, then later called his wife and threatened to kill her.
Johnson has warrants out for second-degree battery and simple assault. Anyone who knows where authorities can find Johnson should call the sheriff's office at 389-5000, and could receive a cash reward.
