Reward offered for info in NO goat beheading
NEW ORLEANS - The Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals offered a reward Wednesday for information about a group of young men who beheaded a goat in New Orleans recently.
The state SPCA said they received a cellphone video which showed the group attacking the goat, which was in a plastic swimming pool, with a machete-like sword. The SPCA did not distribute the video to media outlets, calling it "extremely graphic."
A spokesperson for the Louisiana SPCA said based on information they had and what's seen in the video, they believe it was taken in the uptown area of New Orleans. They said there are other questions about the incident itself which could change the situation, such as if the goat was cooked or not to eat. The SPCA said despite how it was done, killing livestock in order to eat it is not a felony.
This comes after another goat was found beheaded at Brechtel Park in Algiers. The SPCA said they don't believe the two events are related.
A $3,000 reward is offered for information leading to any arrests and convictions in this case. People with information can call the Louisiana SPCA at (504) 368-5191, ext. 100, or email email@example.com.
