BATON ROUGE- Governor John Bel Edwards toured a flood damaged home Monday that was recently repaired through his Restore Louisiana program. It's one of 28 houses repaired during the pilot stage of the long-term disaster program.

"If you compare this disaster to others here in Louisiana and around the country we are moving quickly when you compare the results," said Edwards. "But it's not fast enough for homeowners whose lives have been turned upside down."

The governor and his wife visited the Baton Rouge home with its owner Lillie Gumm, 63-years-old, who said she qualified for the program because of her age.

"It might seem like it's taking forever," said Gumm. "But it's not taking forever and in about three weeks my home was turned around."

The Restore Louisiana program which spends federal HUD dollars is geared towards the elderly and low-income homeowners. However, officials say it's important for all flood victims to apply because they too could qualify for aid even if they've completed home repairs.

Victims can qualify regardless if they've received FEMA aid said Edwards.
