Resolution would support Livingston technical college
LIVINGSTON- More support for a technical college here could come Tuesday, when lawmakers are scheduled to discuss a resolution backing a study on the matter.
Many people, including parish leaders and business groups, want a facility in the parish. They said the growth is fueling the demand.
The resolution, written by State Representative J. Rogers Pope (R- Denham Springs) and State Senator Dale Erdey (R- Livingston), suggests "to urge and request the Board of Regents, in consultation with the Board of Supervisors of Community and Technical Colleges, to study the feasibility of offering community college services in Livingston Parish and to determine how the state can best meet the educational, economic, and workforce development needs of this region."
Senator Erdey has proposed the facility be on the grounds of the Literacy and Technology Center on Florida Blvd. in Walker.
