Residents tackle road issues
GREENSBURG - People in St.Helena Parish are at their wits' end when it comes to bad roads in the parish.
Shiloh Baptist Church Road is number three on the parish's road priority list, and is filled with potholes. The parish has set aside money to fix the road but it doesn't have a plan to get the work done.
People living along the bumpy road are starting to take matters into their own hands by filling potholes with cement instead of waiting on the parish to fix the problem.
"We're praying for the road, that's the most important thing. The other things we've done physically we've taken cement and filled some of the holes," said LaVerne King.
This morning the parish held a special meeting to move money from the general fund to help pay for road work.
