Residents successfully fight new bar
BATON ROUGE- The planning commission denied a rezoning request for a bar in the Southdowns area Monday.
Owners of Time Out Lounge wanted to open a location on Valley Street between the railroad and Perkins Road. The lounge was destroyed by a fire last year.
People who live in the area asked the commission to deny the zoning change, saying there are already enough bars in the area. People against the bar posted signs in their yards, too.
"We think that right now, we have a few bars along there and that's pretty much all we need," Peter Ricca said.
