NEW ROADS - People are still still buzziing about Tuesday night's Pointe Coupee Parish Police Jury meeting.
What began as a discussion about an employee's work schedule turned into a battle of name-calling. The issue is over a worker who's not even employed with the parish anymore.
Juror Clifford Nelson wanted to change a word in notes from the Jan. 22 meeting regarding a part-time worker who's position was supposed to be terminated almost three years ago.
The job should have lasted from May 2010 until August 2010, but the worker was allowed to stay on and no one's sure who approved that.
Residents in the parish say they're not happy with the way the jurors carried on.
"It's embarrassing that we can't settle these matters in another way other than what we experienced last night," said Georgia Morel.
Police juror Justin Cox said Wednesday he knows this is wrong, so he's calling on the Attorney General's office to investigate the matter.
There will be a personal committee in March to discuss the issue. The recommendation will be presented to the full police jury for a vote on the matter.
