BATON ROUGE - Les Miles is officially taking his coaching talents to Kansas.

According to Sports Illustrated, the Kansas Jayhawks announced Miles as the new head coach on Sunday. The Jayhawks' current head coach, David Beaty, will be relieved of his duties when the teams' season ends on Nov. 23.

Earlier this week, Miles and LSU agreed to a one-time lump sum payment of $1.5 million. There was $6.5 million remaining on the original agreement with the Tigers which would have been binding until 2023.

Miles heads back to the Big 12 with a massive rebuilding job at Kansas, a program with 10-straight losing seasons. A person familiar with the decision tells The Associated Press the deal was finalized shortly before Miles arrived at the airport in Topeka Sunday morning.
