NEW ORLEANS- The man accused of kidnapping and murdering Lafayette college student Mickey Shunick was in a hospital, receiving treatments for stab wounds hours after the girl vanished in May.
KATC TV reports Brandon Lavergne told investigators he was attacked and cut, but couldn't provide sound details about where (if it was in the suburb of Jefferson Parish or Orleans Parish) or who might have attacked him. He only said it was at a gas station.
Shunick was last seen just before 2a.m., May 19th. By 11p.m. on May 19th, Lavergne had arrived at the hospital.
Lavergne is also a sex offender and hasn't been cooperating with police about Shunick's disappearance.
His white truck has been connected to the case and it was found burned in Texas.
Shunick's body has not been found.
