BATON ROUGE - There are reports former Governor Edwin Edwards will be released from prison before the end of the week.
WVUE-Fox 8 is reporting that sources close to Edwards’ case tell them the Federal Bureau of Prisons approved a transfer order for Edwards to be moved to a halfway house in Baton Rouge.
The former governor’s daughter, Anna Edwards, said earlier this month that Edwin Edwards would be released from jail before February.
Edwards went to jail in October 2002 for a bribery and extortion scheme to rig the riverboat casino licensing process.
