Reminder: What to know before LSU game day
BATON ROUGE - LSU will implement several changes to game day parking and traffic starting this football season.
Tiger fans will no longer be able to park in the street along Nicholson Drive or Burbank Drive south of Skip Bertman Drive. In addition, a pedestrian buffer zone will be created on Nicholson between North Stadium and South Stadium Drive. This will allow pedestrians to cross Nicholson to get to parking lots along River Road and other areas.
LSU has added 2,300 new parking spaces this year. New parking lots were added at the Nicholson Apartments that were torn down, as well as new spaces at the LSU golf course and along River Road at Gourrier.
After the game, police will contraflow Nicholson from Skip Bertman Drive to Bluebonnet. LSU will also enforce directional exiting from parking lots.
These changes come after a consultant group evaluated LSU game day parking and traffic plans during three home games last season. LSU says it will continue to tweak plans throughout the season when improvements can be made.
LSU police still encourage fans to carpool to campus if possible and arrive early before kickoff. Smoking is against campus policy, but it is not against the law. However, smoking inside Tiger Stadium is against the law.
LSU and Sam Houston State kickoff Saturday at 6:30 p.m. For the latest parking information, visit the LSU Athletics Parking website.
