Relative: suspect thought he was God, killed mother
BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge Police say 29-year-old Broderick Patterson stabbed his mother to death Thursday afternoon.
It happened in the 4000 block of North Street in the Turner Plaza apartment complex. 52-year-old Luethel Patterson died on the floor of her home.
Brodrick's cousin spoke exclusively to WBRZ News 2, saying he called her and told her what he'd done.
Patterson's cousin says he'd been in a car wreck over the weekend and had been acting strangely ever since.
"I didn't believe it, I didn't know what to do," she said. "I just called police."
The cousin said Patterson thought he was God and that the devil was after him.
Patterson is charged with Second Degree Murder and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Patterson's booking photo has not been released.
