Refinery flaring after compressor trip
BATON ROUGE - Officials at the ExxonMobil Chemical Plant in Baton Rouge said a compressor trip caused them to start flaring this afternoon.
A spokesperson from ExxonMobil said it wasn't an emergency situation, and all the appropriate agencies had been notified.
Flaring is used to burn off material that can't be processed at the plant during a unit shutdown, slowdown, or restart.
