Redbox raises prices
SAN FRANCISCO - Redbox will raise its DVD rental prices by 25 percent starting next week to get more revenue from a shrinking audience. Many have switched to Internet video services such as Netflix.
It means the Redbox rental will go to $1.50 a day instead of $1.20. Blue-Ray rentals go up more dramatically to $2 from $1.50. Redbox is also raising video game rentals and game lovers will feel the biggest increase with a $3.00 a day charge.
The last time Redobx raised rental rates was in 2011.
