BATON ROUGE - The controversial cameras that watch over drivers in the Capital City could be on the way out.
Metro council members will decide this week whether to renew the contract for the service, which expires at the end of the year.
There are currently 25 cameras at intersections across the city to catch red light runners.
A study released earlier this year cited the cameras as contributing to a decrease in t-bone crashes at intersections where they are posted.
