Last night, the Ascension Parish Council unanimously agreed to allow red light cameras in unincorporated areas. Ascension Parish still needs to decide how many cameras and where to put them.

The cameras take pictures of red-light runners and the drivers get a ticket in the mail. The first ticket costs $95 and $145 for repeat offenses.
