Red Cross closes shelter in Gonzales
GONZALES - The American Red Cross shelter that opened on Wednesday night after area flooding at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center Gym is now closed.
A Red Cross spokesperson said the shelter was opened for residents who were forced from their homes after Wednesday's downpours, but closed the shelter after it remained empty last night.
The organization will continue to assist flood victims in South Louisiana by distributing clean-up kits to residents in need of supplies and remain on stand-by in the event of another crisis.
