Recreational red snapper season closes Wednesday
BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says the state recreational red snapper season will close at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday.
State officials anticipate private recreational anglers will have harvested the state's projected share of the total Gulf of Mexico private angler harvest - 745,000 pounds, or 18 percent of the total - on that date. The state season has been open since March 20.
The state department is charged with managing and protecting Louisiana's natural resources.
