Record early voting turnout for WBR
PORT ALLEN - Early voting numbers in West Baton Rouge Parish set a one-day record Saturday.
Registrar Stacy Ryan says 618 people voted in person for the Port Allen mayor recall election, with another 31 ballots sent in by mail.
Ryan said that's 16 percent of the registered voters in Port Allen.
Port Allen Mayor Deedy Slaughter is facing a recall on the Nov. 16 ballot. Slaughter has been the subject of numerous News 2 investigations for questionable spending and practices while in office, and is involved in a number of legal cases with city employees.
Early voting ends on Nov. 9.
